These four filters belong together and seem to be made specifically for astronomic work such as taking sun azimuths. Not as sophisticated as the Roelofs prism together with the diagonal eyepieces they do a similar job. The four filters are:
- dark coloured filter for the telescope
- 90 degree prism for the telescope
- dark coloured filter to fit over the 90 degree prism for the telescope
- 90 degree prism for the microscope
With these four filters astronomic observations can be taken under most circumstances. Together with the circular magnetic compass this would even allow variation measurements to be made (the angle between true north and magnetic north).
