Wild Heerbrugg plane surface testing instrument
Obtained from the US
This is a collimator used for testing plane surfaces. It originally comes with a straight angle mirror that is unfortunately missing. It can however be used with any mirror. The instrument was used to test if a surface was plane or not. This can be done by setting up the instrument and using the light to project a 'cross' onto a mirror. The collimator ensures the light becomes parallel on output and gets focused again upon reflection. If the mirror is not exactly at straight angles the returning image is moved up / down. By adjusting the instrument the difference can be accurately measured.
