Lefebvre-Poulin Cercle Hydrographique 180
Lefebvre-Poulin cercle hydrographique.
I have two Lefebvre-Poulin Cercle Hydrographique's in my collection. Where this one is suitable for boat navigation with the option to measure angles up to 180 left or right, the other is for left-faced angles up to 280. This instrument has two scales running up to 180 degrees left and right although it cannot measure up to 180 left due to mechanical constraints (the index arm hits the telescope mount). But that is no problem in practice as the maximum usable angle is around 150 degrees.
The insrument came without a box but with a telescope and filter. The latter is placed behind the horizon mirror, allowing sun observations with the instrument 'the wrong way around'. The instrument is in surprisingly good condition and, in contrast with the other one, seems to have hardly had any use. The pinhole sight is not there, but the parts from the other instrument fits this one just as well (and vice versa).
