Wood and brass slide rule
Wood and brass slide rule / folding ruler.

Though not the only wooden slide rule I have, the brass sliding part is unique to my collection. One side is a standard folding rule of 24" or 2 foot. The other side is a slide rule. Unfortunately the wood is so dirty that it is hard to read the scales. The maker is probably J. Aston from Birmingham which would make this a carpenters slide rule and date it to somewhere between 1854 and 1882, or one the earliest slide rule in the collection.
