Cruiserfix solar navigator
Small plastic intrument to find longitude and latitude by the sun.
Obtained from the UK
Product details: Cruiserfix solar navigator | | Staff | | Material: Plastic
This was part of a larger lot that I obtained and this was an 'accident'. It does however fit my other instruments quite nicely as yet another attempt to create an innovative and cheap instrument. Essentially it functions as a sun dial. At noon (and knowing the date) the latitude is found from the sun. Then the next step is to find the longitude using the latitude and the GMT time. The device is not very accurate and its only pro is that is very small and can be stored flat making it ideal for lifeboats or very small dinghy's where room is at a premium and navigation not of the utmost importance.
