This benchmark has been taken from (the top of) a mountain somewhere in the southern part of the US. It is not clear where as the benchmark is only marked with the surveyor who placed it ("JDB"), the year (1948) and a number (11) besides a height of 5450 feet. There is no database for the USGS benchmarks, so it is impossible to find out more about its original location. These benchmarks were used for levelling.
