Davis Artificial horizon
Davis Instruments artificial horizon
Obtained together with the Mk25 Master sextant this artificial horizon is fashioned after the old fashioned models. However rather than filling them up with quicksilver (mercury) the manual now says to fill them with water or oil. The glass cover is to prevent the wind from disturbing the surface and comes in clear, blue or orange to diminish the glare of the reflected image. Especially with the sun this would be usefull as the horizon filters are generally not dark enough to block out the sun sufficiently.
