This Gunters quadrant is modeled after two quadrants in the collection of Greenwich. On one side is an angular quadrant allowing vertical angles to be measured as well as the performance of all sorts of astronomical computations. On the other side is a nocturnal allowing the computation of time based on polaris. The instrument has an extensive booklet with all the various computations that can be done; to allow these computations to make sense the quadrant has been changed to reflect todays sky.
