Poljot 2 day chronometer 6MX
8 day Polet navigational chronometer including carrying case.
I have two chronometers in my collection; one survey 2 day chronometer and this 2 day navigation chronometer. Many of these chronometers have been produced in Russia and many survive until today (check Ebay). Manufactured by the First Moscow Watch Factory at Kirova (Poljot) the brand is sometimes also denoted as Polet.
This 8 day chronometer is a 'as new' condition and I was lucky enough to pick it up for a 'steal' after nobody was bidding on it during an auction. As chronometers are very expensive I was happy enough to add one to my collection as complete as this one. It has the outer (Carrying) case as well as the double hinged inner case used on board.
The instrument is gimballed and can be locked in position for transport. The clockwork itself is easily removed and some photographs are shown from the internals which gleam like new. I have not rated the chronometer but from the looks it should still be ok to use (however, with GPS who would need to?).
