This is a paper model of a double instrument. On one side is the night clock which uses Polaris. Just set it to the right date and centre it on polaris. Then turn the pointer towards Ursa Major and the local time is indicated. However, though nifty and ancient it was not the reason for obtaining this model. The reason is on the other side where a seamans astrolabe is. Due to the light paper weight and the full paper it will never work but is still a nice demonstration model.
