This stamp depicts the Carte Generale de Bathymetry des Oceans (GEBCO - General Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans) which was started by Prince Albert I of Monaco in 1903. The International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) shown on this stamp is responsible for its production. Most people konw it better as 'Google Sea' which used the same data when launched. The building in the bottom right corner of the second stamp is the headquarters of the IHO in Monaco, a facility I had the pleasure to visit in 2006 and which is just next to the F1 circuit.
