Leica Wild NA2002
Digital optical automatic level from Leica / Wild Heerbrugg. Obtained from the US
Product details: Leica Wild NA2002 | Wild Heerbrugg | Simple theodolite | Survey |
Technically not a Wild Heerbrugg instrument it bears the Leica logo but the Wild markings from the era of the name change. I obtained two of these levels at a bargain. After receiveing them it was easy to understand why they were cheap as both of them have an internal battery that is gone. However, the instrument still functions optically and can be used as a regular automatic optical level. Both of them are in good order and I use one of the as an autocollimation device to check the other levels (you set the two instruments at about the same height at a short distance from each other; focus both to infinity (on e.g. the horizon) and look through the lens of the instrument opposite. The cross hairs will show if correct at the same height level. If not, one of the two instruments is incorrect - hence the need to have one correct instrument reserved for this. The instrument requires the use of a special. barcoded staff, which is then read through the lens.
