Product details: Wild Heerbrugg NA2 / NAK2 old type | Wild Heerbrugg | Simple theodolite | Survey |
The old version of the NA2 / NAK2 is relatively hard to find and I was happy to find these at an affordable price. They look old with their boxy shape which seems to have no design at all. The later version (which is using similar mechanics and optics) looks much better as does the N2 / NK2 from the same era. These are however great levels and both still work.
The NK2 was bought for 'scrap' or parts as it seemed to have been in a fire. As I did not have a NAK2 I tought it could do untill something better came up. To my surprise the blackening was superficial and a good cleans with a little water and soap cleaned the whole instrument in about an hour. I did not dare take it apart so it probably has some sooth in hidden spots. From under the sooth came a well used instrument still in good working condition.
The NA2 is originally from Oregon University. As with all educational instruments in my collection it is almost brand new with the small parts missing. It is the same with the instruments at the school where I teach. The instruments get used a few times a year and have an easy life. However the small parts get misplaced (or end up in pockets). It was last serviced in 1996 by Portland Precision Instruments and repair.
