Wild Heerbrugg N3
Most accurate level by Wild Heerbrugg with optical plan parallal plate micrometer.
Product details: Wild Heerbrugg N3 | Wild Heerbrugg | Tilting levels | |
The N3 (there was no NK3 as with the other levels) was designed as a first order level. It still is the most accurate level today and still more accurate than the automatic levels (but not by much) thanks to its long and extremely accurate vial combined with the plan parallel plate micrometer. My modern NA2 with GPM3 plan parallel micrometer is slightly less accurate (but much easier to use). The micrometer is graduated in inches which requires a conversion if I ever would like to use it. The instrument has both the high magnification optical tube with erect image as the short standard inverted image eyepiece. The upright eyepiece was taken from a parts only instrument. From a distance the instrument does not look that big, but it is about twice the size of the N2.
