USSR SNO-T sextant
Product details: USSR SNO-T sextant | | Quintant | Navigation | Material: Aluminium
Soviet version of the well-known Freiberger sextant. However, it is not a direct copy although there are many similarities. Technically this (and the Freiberger) are quintants rather than sextants. The drum allows direct reading to a second and estimation to about one fifth of that. The differences with the Freiberger are well described in the Sextantbook by Bill Morris who also has a high quality repair manual for the SNO-T. Some differences are the way the worm disengages from the rack but also the addition of a luminous magnifier. The SNO-T also comes better equipped than a standard Freiberger as all the tools ánd two telescopes (a 'regular' as well as an inverted galilean) are provided.
