Stanley survey sextant
Survey or sounding quintant number '20' by Stanley London.
Product details: Stanley survey sextant | Stanley London | Quintant | Survey | Material: Brass
Small surveying vernier quintant made in brass with a brass scale. The instrument has the traditional octant frame model but is designed as a survey instrument with a 160 degree scale and no filters. The instrument is missing the telescope but came with a pinhole disc that however does not fit the ring. What is interesting is the method of adjusting index error which rotates the entire mirror, a method seen on more earlier instruments in my collection. The instrument is undated but probably from somewhere late 19th century or perhaps early 20th.
