Heath Hezzanith survey sextant
Heath Hezzanith survey sextant of the pre WWII model.
Product details: Heath Hezzanith survey sextant | Heath and Co | Quintant | Survey | Material: Brass
This is a pre WWII survey sextant. The sextant came with a number of filters for attaching to the telescope. The telescope can be removed from the sextant and, I guess, replaced with a pinhole part which is not there (anymore). What sets this sextant apart is the large, round, brass box that came with it. I have no idea what it was meant for but it seems that at least the bottom half used to hold a set of spare mirrors. The lid is however blackened and my guess would be that it can also serve as an artifical horizon when filled with liquid. But that is speculation.
