DIY wooden sextant
Homemade, ebonized wooden sextant
Product details: DIY wooden sextant | | Sextant | Home / hobby | Material: Wood
This wooden sextant is more than probably a home build. It has a scale and vernier made out of paper and altough the scale goes to 140 degrees, due to the large vernier it cannot measure above 120 accurately. The instrument is sturdy build with parts such as the sights and mirror mounts made out of metal. The index mirror can be adjusted and the index arm clamped making it a decent design for actual use. The wood is not ebony but ebonized (meaning it has been blackened.
