This tide gauge comes, as the Rijkswaterstaat one, from the inventory of the Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz. In fact what is shown is the recorder of the tide gauge as the float itself is missing. This tide gauge was clock work driven and the up and down movement of the float was translated to a horizontal movement of the pen. The actual waterdepth can be read using the mechanical numbers as well.
