This is one of the larger toy sextants. This is because the G.I. Joe action figure is also relatively large scale. The sextant seems modeled (based on the telescope) after the standard WWII American sextant. Them akers even put in the mirrors. They went wrong however when they designed the shades. The horizon shades are there and positioned directly after the horizon mirror (as they would be roughly when in position. The index shades are missing completely however. The main mistake is however that the sextant is 'left handed' and as far as I know all sextants of this type were made right handed...
