Product details: Playmobil land surveyor | | Toy instruments | Home / hobby | Material: Plastic
The land surveyor with instrument and accesoires was sold in the as set 5473. The set is part of the 'City action' line. Besides the landsurveyor, a tripod, an instrument, a staff there are also 3 safety cones. The landsurveyor has high visibility trousers but wears the hall mark surveyors lumber shirt and body warmer. After that the authenticity goes down the drain. The instrument and tripod look good and seem to portray a digital theodolite as the screen reads a 'H' and 'V' number. The numbers are possible if they are supposed to be in degrees. They are however separated by a minute sign.
Where things go wrong are with the staff supplied with the set. Probably because it is more visual than the prism or target that should have gone with the set, a levelling staff is supplied. Technically a levelling staff can be used with a digital theodolite, however the vertical angle should then have read a multiple of 90 degrees (or 100 gon). Alternatively a level instrument could have been supplied rather than a theodolite but that would not have been as impressive. The staff itself is also far from correct although again a decent attempt has been made. The numbers do not start at the bottom of the staff and depict decimetres. However they cover 10 decimetres over a length of around 2 meters. Not to speak of the graduations themselves which are nearly correct but miss out on the changing black and white bars in the real staff.
