Wild Heerbrugg T0
Wild Heerbrugg T0 archetype boussole from Wild
This one came up for sale and I couldn't resist. It is a very early Wild (it is the second oldest in my collection, after the T2 archetype). I bought it for its age as common wisdom (Bennett, Virtual Archive) has it that there are only two types of this instrument. However, upon arrival a number of differences were soon clear. First of all the telescope is smaller and without a sight. Also the knobs for tuning the vertical circle are the other way around. The compass is somewhat smaller, the compass reading mounts are different and the micrometer screw of a different design. Finally (of the differences I have spotted so far, the illumination window for the vertical circle is of a different design.
This one has had a rough life; the lid closing the tripod mount seems missing and one of the milk glasses over the compass card has been replaced with a clear piece of plasting... Otherwise the instrument seems fine and in working condition.
