Wild Heerbrugg T3000
For a long time I doubted whether to get the T3000 or not. No, it wasn't in my collection yet. But... it is very similar to the T2000 already in my collection. The need to complete my collection finally overcame the spending of money issue... And here it is. Formerly of Boeing, this instrument was probably used for metrological purposes in the same way as my T3A-M. The main difference between this instrument and the regular T2000 / T2002 is that it has a larger objective, greater magnification (at maximum range) and a shorter focus distance. The panfocal objective allows the instrument to have different magnification factors at different distances. These range from 13x at 0.6 m up to 43x over 100 m of distance. Thus you always have a reasonable field of view.
What is interesting is the target inside the telescope. This is available on other instruments as well but is not on the T2000. The target can be used for collimation between two theodolites (or a theodolite and a level instrument). During classes we explain this to students while using the cross hairs of a level instrument, but this target would make life even easier.
By the way, Boeing seems to have been a bit 'cheap' with their instruments. Rather than having two full-size keyboards on both sides, only one has the full keyboard whilst the other one has the simpler variety. Which to me as a collector is of course a nice addition.
