H. Haecke octant
H. Haecke small octant.
Very small octant used by the Kaiserliche Marine (number 2664). I have no clue what the usse of this instrument has been. It does not have any filters nor does it have a telescope (or any filterglasses). Normally I would readily state that this is a survey instrument, but because it is an octant this would be a very limited survey instrument. The scales are some sort of plastic, most probably celluloid considering its date. They are very easy to read and from that perspective much better than metal scales.
