Classic late 19th century vernier sextant made of brass. The sextant has two sight tubes and a single filter that cna be mounted on the sight tube. It furthermore has a number of horizon and index shades. The scale is made of ivory. The sextant is still complete with its keystone box. In the box there is a label stating 'John Bruce and Sons opticians'. Whether John Bruce and Sons actually made this or just were the resellers I do not know.
The sextant is engraved 1873 and 'F. Pearse'. I have not been able to find more information about this name; any additional information is therefore welcome.
