This is a later model, two mirror ebony octant. It still has all the ivory parts although the pencil did not originally belong to it. This one is produced after 1820 and was still in production untill the early 20th century. As it only has a peep sight and not a sight tube or telescope I believe this to be around 1850. The instrument is generally in decent condition but the mirrors show their age. The casing of the index mirror is cracked but everying is still functional.
