This is a much smaller octant than the other two in my collection. The instrument is in a sorry state with damaged mirrors, missing filter glasses and lacing the ivory scale and makers mark. I have however never seen a small sized octant after I purchased this one and am still glad to have it in my collection. For a while I thought it might have been a replica, but too many of the parts look like those on the other octants with the same signs of aging making me believe it is genuine.
