Halden pantograph
J. Halden pantography. Obtained from the UK.
This pantograph is much more recent than the Heath-Wing also in my collection. However the design has not changed much over the years and this instrument is essentially the same as the Heath-Wing. Dating it is relatively hard as J. Halden manufactured from 1878 until 1969. However, the box of pencils that is still with the instrument is labeled Johann Faber, Bavaria. That company (run by one of the Faber brothers) was established in 1877 and merged with A.W. Faber in the 1920's. Finally, this instrument was bought together with a large T-square also by J. Halden and further labeled 'Hastings Corporation'. The Hastings Corporation was replaced by the Hastings Borough in 1888. If this is true then the instrument is from somewhere between 1878 and 1888.
