This is a regular sized aluminium school sextant. From a distance it looks like a 'real' sextant as it has an elaborate frame patter and a handle that would not be misplaced on a 19th or early 20th century sextant. What gives it away as a school sextant is the lack of adjustment options. Also, there is no telescope but rather a sighting tube. The sighting tube does have a pinhole sight. There is also a vernier which allows reading the instrument to 0.5 minutes.
