EF Training sextant
Paper sextant produced by Einstein Freeman
Product details: EF Training sextant | Einson Freeman Co | Sextant | Education | Material: Paper
The Einstein Freeman company was specialized in games and toys. In june 1945 they took out a patent for a paper sextant which they produced as this training sextant. In construction it is of a similar design as the other training sextants and their is some similarity to the Astromedia one in my collection. the sight tube, mirrors and artificial horizon are made of other materials, everything else is sturdy cardboard.
The artificial horizon is a nice tough and functions differently from the one on the Astromedia. It uses an additional mirror to show the level over the horizon mirror. The sextant is surprisingly sturdy for such a flimspy device. The booklet that came with it was copyrighted in 1943, putting this sextant somewhere between 1943 and 1945.
