The first model of this sextant type stadimeter was developed during WWI (around 1914). The MkII came into production around 1917 and had a shortest focussing distance of 22 feet. The instrument(s) shown are actually not in my collection at the moment. Thanks to Chris Woodruff I obtained another one with some repair 'issues'. After repair I now have one with matching serials (1111), wooden box, adjustment key an sunshade as well as one without a box and with a different (earlier) eyepiece. However the eyepiece cannot be focussed and must be missing something (haven't figured out what yet).  The pictures are of the 'not working' serial 1083. Serial 1111 has the eyepiece of the (no longer in my collection) instrument shown stripped of paint.
