Plan Range Finder MkII
Plan Range Finder MkII Horizon and bubble type (parts)
This rangefinder is in no way complete. It is missing some side plates as well as the bubble mechanism. I was aware of that when buying, but so far it is the only one I have come across... So for now it will do.
I have not been able to find out exactly how it works yet, but the principle seems the same as for the bubble sextant. It seems to assume an observer on the ground. When inputting the height above the ground of an aircraft it uses a measured angle to directly compute the distance to the aircraft then. The mirror at the end rotates immediately with the height / distance dial. How it works with bot a bubble and the horizon is as of yet unkown.
