English? station pointer

I obtained this (large) station pointer from Italy where it was listed as an antique English station pointer from the mid 19th century. Though I can't prove that to be in error, I also have no idea upon what information this is based. The instrument does not have a makers name or serial that I can find. It is heavily corroded but not in such a way that any readings would be absent. Also, the numbers on the arms seem more modern than the mid 19th century (as is the overall design of the instrument). From that perspective, I would estimate the instrument to be early to mid 20th century. Is it English? well, one can't rule it out and the design does seem English. But no guarantees. Any further information is welcome though.
