C.Plath PS6 Peilscheibe
Product details: C.Plath PS6 Peilscheibe | C. Plath | Magnetic compasses | Navigation |
This is a rather unusual aiming compass (or 'peilscheibe') as it has a low power telescope rather than a set of visors. The telescope has a filter to reduce glare but does not have a crosshair for accurate aiming. The compass can be used to point the compass to magnetic North. A direction can then be measured using the telescope. Using the separate index two angles can be registered. No actual manufacturer is shown on the instrument, only a manufacturers code JLG. Using codes rather than names was the custom during WWII to disguise the original manufacturer. A very similar instrument is however by C. Plath and as they are very rare I presume this is also C.Plath.
