This sextant is (almost) a copy of the German Kriegsmarine Sold sextant in my collection. It works the same way and even the handles are as good as identical. This is not strange as the some of the factories making the Sold sextant were located in what became East-Germany. This way the factories and therefore the dies came into Russian hands. They have done this with most German instruments (Askania, Freiberger and Plath that I defintely know about).
