Bosun Mk1 sextant
Half size sextant, probably from Japan
Product details: Bosun Mk1 sextant | Bosun | Sextant | Navigation | Material: Brass
This is a half size sextant that was probably intended for use on yachts. The brand is fairly unknown but based on the handle and other parts it seems more than likely that this was a brand name from Tamaya as the gear on the index arm as well as the handle seem similar to those on the larger Tamaya sextants. The telescope is much smaller but uses a similar fixture as well. Mirrors and filters are about half size though.

Bosun Mk1 Sextant
I bought one of these half-size sextants in 1972, new from Capt O M Watts chandlery in London. I used it to navigate across the Atlantic and Pacific, sailing a little 21ft yacht. Space for everything was limited hence the half-size. The sextant had polarising filters and was excellent in every way.
