Adams London box sextant
This Adams sextant is undated and is probably slightly later than the Banks sextant in my collection. Adams (presumably George Adams Jr. was an instrumentmaker who operated from 1772 - 1795. The layout of this sextant is much the same as the Banks sextant with one important difference. This sextant has a rack for adjusting the index whereas the Banks sextant requires direct index placement. This sextant allows for finer adjustments of the index. Other than that the two sextants look remarkably alike except for some minor details such as the doubly articulated microscope
