Wild Heerbrugg RK1
Product details: Wild Heerbrugg RK1 | Wild Heerbrugg | Alhidade | Survey |
The RK1 is designed for use on a plane table. This is the self-reducing version, which, like the RDS also allows distances to be measured when using e.g. a levelling staff. The mechanism is similar to that of the RDS in layout and use. The vertical angle cannot be read but the distance (correction) shows in the telecope. For this the adlihade is provided with the levelling vials to and adjustments to make the telescope level.
The aldihade has a parallalel plate allowing lines to be offset from the measured direction. The scale can be changed (I acquired it with the 1:2000 scale fitted). The scale slides along the parallel plate and has a 'pricker' allowing holes to be made in the paper and thus allowing the measured distance to be also plotted directly onto the paper.
Originally the instrument would have been supplied with a staff level, a magnetic compass for aligning the plane table to magnetic north and a plumb bob to place it directly over the measuring point. It was also supplied with a number of other scalebars.
