TomTom Go 930
TomTom Go 930 in-car GPS.
Product details: TomTom Go 930 | TomTom | GNSS Receivers | Navigation |
My third GPS unit bought when the aps on the Garmin iQue 3600 became obsolete. The only reason for switching to TomTom was their introduction of detailed, just in time, traffic information. This worked of the Vodafone SIM card in the charger / traffic information receiver. They followed the speeds of all Vodafone telephones on the roads and from these, together with general traffic information, send out highly detailed information to the GPS which would then (usually just to late) recalculate. I used the traffic information heavily while working in Rotterdam, a notoriously congested route. I quite the subscription to the traffic information when that job finished in 2012. Also, by then the in-car navigation system had access to the RDS traffic information which was not as good but usually good enough (and free).
This unit then served for a couple of years as navigation unit in the secondary car untill that got replaced by the motor bike. Not that the maps were up to date by then but still good enough for general navigation and speed information.
