Magellan Aquarius2
Magellan Professional / Thales Aquarius2 Long Range Kinematic and heading receiver.
Once the top of the professional high end GPS receivers this receiver had a two dual frequency antenna's which, together with the UHF input would allow them to carry out Real Time Kinematic positioning (RTK) up to 15 km while extending (at the cost of reduced accuracy) the base line in Long Range Kinematic mode up to 40 km. In practice that range was reduced to around 25 km in the Netherlands where these units together with the original Aquarius series were used in the network of Rijkswaterstaat. This specific unit used to be the demonstration model of the Dutch Sercel / DSNP / Thales / Magellan / Ashtech dealer 'AquaNav'. After they ceased operations their inventory was absorbed into CT-Systems who used them on the rental market.
This unit has the dual radio (UHF and HF), dual frequency GPS reception as well as the heading option (for connecting two antenna's). THe appropriate NAP002 type antenna (one) is shown with the receiver.
Due to the GPS millenium (week roll-over) all former Thales / DSNP / Magellan Professional stopped working overnight rendering them useless. Which is how the arrived in my collection.
