Very early consumer grade GPS receiver by Sony. This unit is from the same era as the Garmin GPS50 in my collection. It is in two parts, the antenna and the control unit connected by a short cable. With a longer cable the antenna could be mounted outside.
This unit was obtained from CT-Systems as part of a large donation of instruments to my collection. The origin is not entirely clear but it was probably bought in the early 1990s to experiment with GPS within the company as a, then, new technique.
