I had to buy a complete Mark 15 sextant (which was already in my collection) to get this very small accesoire. They are extremely rare and, according to Celestaire, rather useless. The idea behind the prismlevel is that they give you an indication whether the sextant is level or not. The device is simply a prism that, when held at an angle to the horizon, distorts the horizon as seen through the prism vs that seen through the mirror. It replaces a technique called 'swinging the arc' where the sextant is rocked untill the maximum elevation is found. Just as simple without 'stealing' 10% of your horizon mirror.
