The Mk IX-A bubble sextant did not have any telescopic sights but did have a 2-minute averager. In this it differed from the Mk IX (without any further designation). The Mk IX I had was also a lot smaller. With the emphasis on 'had' as it contained radium paint and as a result was taken away due to radiation being emitted from it. The Mk IX is the most succesful bubble sextant from WWII and was used untill many years later by for example the arilines.
