Product details: Hughes RAF flying boat sextant | Henry Hughes and Son | Sextant | Military | Material: Brass
This is a small flying boat sextant marked 'AM' indicating its use with the RAF. The insrument differs from the other flying boat sextant by its mirrors and filters. Where the other one has circular mirrors, a large(r) telescope and only two horizon filters this one has the classic square mirrors and four horizon filters. The telescope is very small with a low magnification. The instrument came together with its box (with key) and a small bottle of oil. The instrument was last calibrated in 1945, probably also the year of construction.
