Western Electric stadimeter
Early WWI Fiske type stadimeter (1918) in aluminium. I have two, slightly different models in my collection.
Product details: Western Electric stadimeter | Western Electric | Stadimeter | Navigation | Material: Aluminium
The two models are the orginal type of 'Fiske' stadimeter as produced by Western Electric and are dated to 1918. Both have a very early serial (128 and 274) but, although a few serial numbers apart are different in construction. The frames are the same but the mounting of the mirrors and their adjustment is definitely different. The later serial (274) uses a method much resembling those of the later stadimeters from WWII (Schick, Ajax, K&E and Naval Gun Factory). The early serial is missing all the main optical parts and is no longer functional in any way.
