Wild Heerbrugg T210
Version of the T2 without vertical circle.
Product details: Wild Heerbrugg T210 | Wild Heerbrugg | Simple theodolite | | Material: Steel
A rare instrument with only 300 or so ever produced, the T210 is essentially the same as the T2 but without the vertical circle. All the arguments I have made for the T160 vs the T16 (see that entry) go for the T210 vs the T2. In other words, an expensive instrument for its limited use and as a result not sold very often and soon taken out of production. This instrument is completely useless for anything but horizontal angles (which it does very well) as it is also lacking the additional telescope level that the T160 does have.
The instrument was a 'barn find' from somebody who bought a house (not even that old) and found this in the attick hidden behind a wall. First thought was that it was a bomb, but on later inspection was found to be an instrument. He contacted mr. Bennett who already had one and then directed the finder to me. Found near Rotterdam it must have been taken home by an employee as it was formerly of 'Gemeentewerken Rotterdam', the municipal engineering department. It must have been in long use as the last calibration by Ahrin (who probably also sold the instrument originally) was in 1985, 25 years after it was produced (and probably bought).
